Chairman of LG Chem Ltd. pays a visit to DFM

On July 21st, Chairman of LG Chem Ltd. Kwon Young Soo led a team to visit DFM where they were met by Deputy General Manager Liu Weidong. In their talks, both sides exchanged ideas on strengthening cooperation in the new energy field, etc. The meeting was attended by senior executives of the DFM New-Energy Vehicle Business Unit, the DFM Technical Center's New-Energy Power Train Department and the R & D departments of relevant business units.

DFM always attaches great importance to the new-energy vehicle (NEV) business. In recent years, it has successively launched onto the market several electric vehicle products including the DongFeng E30 and the DongFeng Yufeng BEV. To date, 77 DongFeng NEV models have been included in the Catalogue of Vehicle Models Recommended for the Energy-Saving and New-Energy Vehicle Demonstration, Popularization and Application Program, and other relevant projects are being implemented in succession. Subordinate to the LG Group, one of the three major groups of South Korea, LG Chem Ltd. launched its strategy of making inroads into the Chinese electric vehicle market in 2014. In light of its planning, LG Chem Ltd. will put its Nanjing-based plant into production in October 2015, whereupon it will be in a position to supply batteries to more than 100,000 electric vehicles each year.

Liu Weidong extended his welcome to the guests from LG Chem Ltd., saying, "With more and more knowledge about the relationship between human beings and nature, and the promulgation of more policies popularizing new energy, the concepts of energy conservation and environmental protection have enjoyed popular support in the Chinese market and the new-energy industry has a promising future."

"LG Chem Ltd. has a wealth of experience in the development of hybrid electric vehicles and the lithium cell systems of battery electric vehicles," Kwon Young Soo said. "We hope to join hands with DFM to boost the development of China's new-energy vehicle industry."
